Frequently asked questions
What types of QR codes can I generate? #
URL, plain text, email (with subject and body), phone number, SMS, Wi-Fi network credentials, vCard contact card, and calendar events (VEVENT). Each type encodes the data in the correct standard format so any scanner app interprets it automatically.
What error correction level should I use? #
Medium (15%) is the best default — it lets up to 15% of the code be damaged or obscured while still scanning. Use High (30%) when printing on materials that may get dirty or worn, or when adding a logo. Use Low (7%) only for screen display where space is tight.
What size should I make my QR code? #
For printing: minimum 2.5 cm × 2.5 cm at 300 DPI — so at least 300 px in the generator. Business cards: 256–512 px. Posters or banners viewed from a distance: 1000 px or larger. Screen-only QR codes can be 256 px.
Can I change the QR code colors? #
Yes — pick any dark colour (modules) and light colour (background) in the Design Options panel, or use one of the preset palettes. Make sure there is enough contrast between the two. Black on white is the most reliably scanned combination; dark on light always outperforms light on dark.
Is my data uploaded anywhere? #
No. The QR code is generated entirely inside your browser — none of the text, contact details, or Wi-Fi credentials you type ever leave your device. Nothing is logged on our servers.
Is this free? #
Yes. No sign-up required. All QR types, custom colours, error-correction levels, and PNG / JPG / SVG download are free.
